History of Fir Ridge
Fir Ridge Christmas Tree Farm was started in 1978, by Phillip Vestal Jr., on the family farm in Piney Creek, North Carolina. The first few acres planted were half Fraser Fir and half White Pine. In the following years, the plantings remained small with about equal numbers of Fraser Fir and White Pine being planted.
The first harvest took place in 1985 with a few hundred trees going to market. In 1992, Mr. Vestal's oldest son Jamie became a partner in Fir Ridge. Today, Fir Ridge has several acres and thousands of trees growing on the same family farm they started 25 years ago. Even though the business has grown steadily, Fir Ridge is still selling to some of the original buyers.
