Tree Information
The Fraser Fir was named after John
Fraser, a Scottish botanist who explored the southern Appalachian Mountains of
North Carolina in the late 1700's.
The Fraser Fir is can grow to a maximum height of about 80 feet and have a trunk
diameter of 1 foot to 1 1/2 feet. The fir is a pyramid shape and has flat
needles that are dark green in color.
The majority of Fraser
Fir Christmas trees are grown in North Carolina because of the ideal growing
climate. In ideal situations it usually take 7-10 years to grow a 6-7 feet
Christmas tree. The Fir is the most popular Christmas tree species due to
its form, dark green color, pleasant scent, and excellent shipping characteristics.
